Hitch Pins

Hitch pins are also known as ring grip pins or trailer pins. They are used to temporarily mount or co-join mating components for positive coupling. They link machinery and components that need to be disconnected & reconnected often or just temporarily. These pins come with a pre-drilled shaft that slides into a hole and a clip / cotter pin / similar locking device to secure this shaft. Vehicles frequently employ large hitch pin sizes to fasten a trailer ball mount to a receiver hitch. Raptor Supplies offers these hitch pins from brands like Grainger and Itw Bee Leitzke.

Features

  • These pins offer high shear strength, an easy-grip pull ring (except in bend styles) and a high-tension hairpin cotter (except in cotterless types) to ensure easy insertion & removal in quick-disconnect applications.
  • They come with big handles for enhanced comfort & grip.
  • Itw Bee Leitzke cotterless hitch pins have shafts that are equipped with a spring-loaded ball locking mechanism instead of separate cotter pins or fasteners. These pins are self-locking and reusable.
  • These units have at least one predrilled hole for holding & retaining objects in place.
  • They are available in shank sizes ranging from 7/8 to 1.25 inches.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between hitch pins and ring pins?

Hitch pins have semi-circular handles and require an extra cotter pin to be inserted perpendicularly for securing them in place. On the other hand, ring pins have a circular ring handle and a locking mechanism.

Can I use a bolt instead of a hitch pin?

Pins are softer than bolts and can withstand the shock load of a hitch. Grade 8 bolts will eventually fracture & shatter, as they cannot withstand shock loads.
