Frequently Asked Questions

Can you reuse a retaining ring?

Most retaining rings or snap rings can be removed and reused multiple times, provided that the stress developed during installation is minimal. However, selected models (like self-locking retaining rings) get permanently locked with the shaft / housing and cannot be removed without breaking or warping the ring.

How to install an E-ring?

  • Pick up the E-ring using a retaining ring applicator and hold it securely in place.
  • Slide the retaining ring in between the jaws of the tool.
  • Push the ring onto a shaft and release the circlip when it is completely assembled on the shaft.

What is the difference between external and internal retaining rings?

An internal retaining ring fits into a housing / bore whereas an external retaining ring fits over or around a shaft / pin.

How can we remove anchor bolts?

To remove an anchor bolt from the wall, completely unscrew it. With a sharp tap inwards, drive it deeper into the wall. This will disengage the anchor mechanism, allowing you to easily pull the plug from the wall.
