Snap Buttons

These snap buttons are widely used in wheelchairs, portable toilets, crutches, electrical transformers, telescoping poles, banner stands, kiosks, fishing equipment, soccer & hockey goals and pop-up tents. They are also used to attach fabric to solid surfaces such as plastic, cardboard or wood.

Features

  • Snap buttons, also known as press studs / snaps / poppers, are a group of tiny fused discs that are frequently used in fabrics as an alternative to standard buttons.
  • When a specific amount of force is applied, a circular lip under one disc fits into a groove on the top of the other, locking them tightly together.
  • These fasteners provide positive adjustment of telescoping tubing.
  • They are made of C1050 steel / stainless steel for structural rigidity and resisting corrosion on exposed surfaces.
  • These snap buttons are available in single-end, double-end and dual-type variants, with head heights ranging from 0.28 to 0.44 inches.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a snap button barrel?

It is the stem-like part of the snap button that is riveted into the mating component. It extrudes out of the backside of the button top.

What causes snaps to stop holding?

A snap's stud (bottom) is frequently fastened to a solid surface, such as the side of a boat. It supports the socket (top), which is riveted to the button cap's underside. A taut wire spring that surrounds the stud as it is put on and lifted off, is located inside the socket. Over time, the spring loses strength, leading to the fastener's failure.

How do you stabilise snaps?

For stabilising, a sew-in material such as a non-fusible or woven interfacing, similar-weight cotton fabric or twill tape can be used.

Can you reuse snap buttons?

Do not reuse snap parts as they get damaged. Throw them and start with new parts.

How to replace worn-out snaps?

  • Determine the type and size of the existing snaps.
  • Remove the old socket by drilling off the rivet with a drill from the rolled side of the rivet.
  • Install the new socket with a snap fastener installation tool.

What is the significance of a snap button closure?

A snap closure uses snap fasteners, which are essentially two discs that fit together like snug jigsaw pieces. One disc has a projecting end, and the other is concave.
