Frequently Asked Questions
What are U-bolt nuts made of?
These nuts are made of steel / stainless steel / aluminium / polyurethane rubber, ensuring high impact and abrasion resistance.
What is the significance of nonconductive U-bolts?
These fibreglass-reinforced polyurethane U-bolts do not conduct electricity and prevent metal-to-metal corrosion. These U-bolts are chemical, UV and abrasion resistant.
What accessories are compatible with these U-bolts?
Standoff brackets can be used with U-bolts for conveying pipes, tubes and cable raceways at a distance from walls, floors and ceilings. They offer extra clearance that allows access for maintenance as well as adding & removing lines.
How do we measure the size of a U-bolt?
The length of these fasteners is measured from the bolt end to the inside of the bends. The width of these U-bolts is measured between the legs.
What mounting options do these U-bolts offer?
These U-bolts offer threaded / screw mounting for easy and secure installation.
What types of nuts can be used with U-bolts?
U-bolts are compatible with hex nuts, nylon-insert lock nuts and serrated flange lock nuts.
How to install U-bolts?
- Remove both nuts from all sides of the U-bolt.
- Place the U-bolt around the pipe to be attached and thread the ends of the bolt through the holes in the supporting beam or structure.
- Thread all the nuts on each of the bolt's outer ends.
- Tighten the nuts that are closest to the support beam manually.
- Finally, tighten the outer nuts on ends of the U-bolt with a wrench or an influence tool.
What safety precautions should be taken while using U-bolts?
- Before using, check for damages that may be caused due to the high pressure exerted while pulling a load with a truck.
- Tighten the nuts if loosen to prevent slipping.
- Replace the U-bolt if any crack is found.
- If the U-bolt is rusted, get a new one.
How do I determine the right size of U-bolt for my application?
You can determine the right size of standard U-bolts by measuring the diameter of the steel bar or pipe you need to attach and selecting a U-bolt that matches or slightly exceeds that diameter.
When should I use square U-bolts?
Square U-bolts are used in applications where there is a need for greater stability and resistance to movement or rotation. They are ideal for securing items with square or rectangular shapes, such as lumber, beams, poles or frames. Square U-bolts provide a more secure grip, minimising the risk of shifting or slipping.
