Autonics CR18-8DN proximity sensor detects the presence of iron, plastic, metal, water, wood and stone. This cylindrical sensor is used for liquid level detection or counting the products on conveyors.
Working Mechanism:
- When the sensor power is turned On, the current oscillation is close to 0V.
- When an object approaches the sensor, the capacitance increases and the current oscillation increases, thus providing the output.
Features:
- It has an easy-to-operate sensitivity adjuster to set adequate sensing distances.
- It provides reverse power polarity, surge and overcurrent protection.
- It has sensitivity volume for spatial resolution and can operate without touching the object.
- The case and nut are made of Nylon 6 for mechanical strength, stiffness and damping properties.
- The red LED on its body serves as a process indicator.
Compatible Accessories:
/p/autonics/5m-extension-cordset: These long-length cord sets are linked to proximity sensors and can be used in large areas.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What is the operating temperature range of this proximity sensor?
A. Autonics CR18-8DN cylindrical proximity sensor has an operating temperature range of -13 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit.
Q. What output does this sensor send?
A. The CR18-8DN provides NPN normally open output. NPN stands for Negative-Positive-Negative transistors.
Q. Do we have to touch this sensor with the object to detect its presence?
A. No, this is a non-contact detector which detects the sensing target when it comes close.
